How to
play.
Claiming a square takes about a minute. No account needed.
- Open the board link (or scan the QR code) your host shared.
- Enter a password or entry code if the board requires one.
- Tap open squares to select them, up to the per-player limit.
- Enter your name and email, then confirm. That’s it!
- Follow any additional instructions on the confirmation page.
- Follow along during games and see winners announced.
How does a squares board work?
A board has 100 squares (10×10) or 25 squares (5×5), one per combination of a row number and a column number. Players claim squares before the game. Once the host assigns numbers — either randomly or by hand — each row and column gets a digit 0–9. When a score is recorded, the last digit of each team's score points to the winning square.
What are the different pool game types?
Standard matches the away team's score digit to the row and the home team's to the column. Reverse runs a second, independent game on the same board with the axes swapped. Touching is the winning square plus up to four adjacent squares as bonus/split winners.
When do the numbers get assigned?
Whenever the host is ready — usually right before kickoff. Once assigned, they're permanent and new entries close immediately, so nobody can see the numbers and pick a favorable square after the fact.
Does SquaresHQ handle payments?
No — payment arrangements are made solely between hosts and participants. SquaresHQ does not participate in or administer any monetary exchanges and serves only as an organizational tool.
Can one board cover multiple games?
Yes. Choose a Full Season board and players claim their squares once, for the whole season — each week gets its own fresh number draw and its own winners, on the same squares. Your team stays on the columns all season and each week's opponent is filled in for you. Choose Single Game if you only need one game, like the Super Bowl.
How much does SquaresHQ cost?
The Starter plan is free and has no limit on how many boards you host — you get the full board, the number draw, and automatic winner detection. Paid plans are bought per board, not per account: Community Messaging adds automatic email to your players ($5 single game, $15 full season), and Host Manager Pro adds live score and schedule assistance plus payment tracking ($10 single game, $30 full season).
I lost my confirmation email — how do I find my squares?
Open the board link on the same device/browser you used to claim, and your squares are still marked as yours. If you have your "my squares" link from the confirmation email, that works from anywhere.
